This workshop, held on the 2nd of July 2026, introduces participants to the fundamentals and practical applications of screen printing technology for fabricating interdigitated electrode (IDE) sensors. Screen printing is a widely used, cost-effective printing technique that enables the deposition of functional materials onto various substrates with high repeatability, scalability, and design flexibility.
Through this workshop, participants gained hands-on exposure to the complete process of producing IDE sensors, including basic design considerations, screen preparation, selection of conductive ink, substrate handling, printing parameters, curing, and basic quality inspection. The workshop also highlights the importance of electrode geometry, material compatibility, and process control in ensuring the performance and reliability of the printed sensor.
By combining theoretical understanding with practical demonstration, this workshop provides participants with a clear appreciation of how screen printing can be utilised to develop low-cost, scalable, and customisable sensors for applications such as chemical detection, biosensing, environmental monitoring, and wearable electronics.
